Wisteria Mystery CAL/KAL Scholarship Program

**All Scholarship Recipients have now been chosen.  If you’d like to know about future opportunities like this one, please make sure you sign up for the Melody’s Makings’ Newsletter!**

I’m feeling so very fortunate about all of the excitement happening around the launch of my new Mystery Create-A-Long, Wisteria!  It’s a HUGE deal to me that everyone is so excited.  As you probably already know by now, this business is the only income for my family of 4.  My husband and I put a ton of time, heart, and love into absolutely everything we do here on Melody’s Makings.  Mostly because we’re just very thankful to be home with our kids…and we want to show our gratitude in every possible way.

I’ve had e-mails from a few customers/followers over the last few days expressing how much they would love to be part of the Wisteria MCAL, but letting me know that they’ve fallen on hard times right now and simply can’t afford to join.  Because I know all about having to pinch pennies and miss out on the fun from time to time, I’ve decided to put together a scholarship program for Wisteria.

I’ll be giving away at least 10 free entries into the Wisteria MCAL through this program.  I may give away more if I have more really deserving applicants, but I’m going to wait and see how many people apply and how many people sign up for Wisteria before I decide on any final numbers.

If you’d like to nominate yourself, or a knitter or crocheter you know, please follow the instructions below:

  • Send me an e-mail to [email protected] with subject line “Wisteria Scholarship”.
  • Tell me who you’d like to nominate, and leave me their e-mail address.
  • Write me a short note about why you think this person is really deserving of free entry into Wisteria.

**Remember – this program was created for those who really can’t afford to join the fun without it.  Please don’t apply unless you, or the person you’re nominating, truly fall into that category**

That’s it!  Pretty easy peasy to apply, right!?  If you have any questions, you can always contact me via e-mail or by commenting on this post.  Scholarship recipients will be chosen February 11th and contacted via the e-mail address given on February 12th.  That way they all have a little bit of time to gather up yarn for the project before we begin.

Thanks again for your continued support!  It’s simply impossible to express how much it means to me and my family.

  2. It was suppose to say truely not Turkey.

  3. Wow, pretty awesome of you and your husband to do this!

  4. it is so kind of you to offer a scholarship…and it looks like auto correct got hold of this poster’s message

  5. I love that you’re doing this 😉 You’ve create something truly special here and should be very proud. The support and positivity of this group is amazing !I won’t be joining in for Wisteria as I have a couple small projects to finish and a sweater I promised I would make myself to get at. Have a great day !

  6. I will be using Turkey Special ! I love it! 😉

  7. I think the scholarship program is a great idea. I would love to join in the Cal but I’m on a fixed income and I can’t afford to do it.

  8. That’s so sweet of you! I’d love to participate as well and don’t have the funds, however I’m sure there are others out there worse off than me that want to as well! You’re a wonderful person!

  9. Melody you are truly amazing. To ensure that as many people as possible are able to take advantage of this I would like to suggest that anyone that is gifted this amazing scholarship, (because if they are financially not able to afford to join then they probably can also not afford to purchase the yarn for it either)that anyone that can afford it let’s start a pot, all the money will be put into the scholarship fund to purchase the yarn for the ones not able to afford it and has been gifted the scholarship. What does everyone think?

  10. I’m also on a fixed income and as mentioned previously by others I am sure there are more needier crocheters out there. Wishing you and your husband a well deserved success with this CAL

  11. I think this is wonderful. I am not as comfortable crocheting as knitting, so I’ve stopped participating in CALs, but price has kept me from joining some. You hosting a CAL and giving some free admission is simply amazing!

  12. i loved the last mini cal, my hat came out just perfect for one of my grandchildren, and just in time for the snow which we usually get only once a year!
[i live in Jerusalem]. i would love to join the wisteria cal, but i really don’t have even the extra 8 dollars to spare right now, i don’t know if i’m more deserving than anyone else, but i can say that if i’m included, i’ll really make what the pattern is and not just keep it for a rainy day!!! even if you don’t choose me, thanks so much for the last mini cal and have a great time with this one.

  13. You and your husband are very kind to offer a scholarship to the Wisteria MCAL. If I could afford to join I would but I simply can’t afford to join. I lost my job some years ago and have been unable to find work as well as my husband is currently unemployed so therefore I am unable to join. I would love to join all the others but simply can’t at this time as I can’t afford the money. As it hard on us at this time.

  14. Thank you so much for this generous offer. Really appreciate all your hard work.
    Best Regards

  15. I hadn’t looked into it really until now. I missed the fact that it is a crochet AND Knit along!! I just got the email and had I tell you how lovely of an idea this was! 😀

  16. It is really AMAZING you are doing this for us who are having financial troubles! I would ask but really need to finish my new grandsons DALLAS COWBOYS STAR! Maybe someone could help me find away to turn the star into a square when finished crocheting the star as big as I need! I’m using the pattern from BETH,s LITTLE STAR AFGHAN! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

  17. I would love to join but can not afford it at this time, I do have yarn gifted to me by family, we lost our only child to cancer and are still trying to get back on our feet, my family gives me yarn because they know my crocheting and knitting keep me sane. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the mini CAL, it was the first one I’ve ever done and I really enjoyed it.

  18. I was also going to comment about a wool fund, as this is what limits us at times.
I find my crochet a form of therapy and this little lift of having the wool gifted would give someone such enjoyment! I bought my wool for my daughter’s size 7-10yrs for less than £10 (im in UK)

  19. You rock!!!

  20. Thanks for the giggle

  21. This is so nice of you. I’d love to join, but can’t justify the purchase and even though there is a “scholarship program”, I couldn’t justify buying the yarn. I’m a full time caregiver to my fiance who has end stage liver disease and is on a liver transplant waiting list. His SSI covers the Rent and Utilities, his mother pays our cable/internet. I can’t work because I need to be here to take care of him.

  22. It truly is very sweet and thoughtful of you to offer this amazing opportunity ? I can’t afford joining due to low income, a cat that got expensive (found out he has arthritis like me), I got expensive medicine I have to buy. And we have finally found an apartment that is more handicap friendly for me. But we have to pay double rent the first month. So I have no money to use for extra things. I have never participated in a CAL before so I guess it’s about time ? My wallet disagree though. But at least I have plenty of yarn to keep me occupied ? Have a great day!
