How to Knit Seed Stitch

The seed stitch is one of my all time favorite knit stitches, and I’m convinced it always will be.  Made up of a combination of knit and purl stitches, it’s super simple and perfect for any knitter regardless of experience level.  The texture is soft, squishy, and quite eye-catching.

Knit Seed Stitch Written Instructions:

Cast on an even number of stitches onto Straight Knitting Needles

Row 1: *K1, P1* Repeat across

Row 2: *P1, K1* Repeat across

Continue to repeat rows 1&2 until your piece is finished.

 

For the Seed Stitch variation used in the Handsome Hoppy Frog Hat Knit Pattern:

Cast on an even number of stitches onto Straight Knitting Needles

Row 1: *K2, P2* Repeat across

Row 2: *P2, K2* Repeat across

Continue to repeat rows 1&2 until your piece is finished.
