Let’s Get Real {Wisteria Slouch Hat}

North Star Series

My North Star November series left me assured of a couple important things.

First off, we are all so similar.  There’s so many other lovely beings struggling through similar challenges and growing in similar ways.  Recognizing how alike we are can greatly help us become more compassionate beings.  This project was another great reminder for me, and for that I am hugely thankful.

Secondly, I’m recognizing a need.  I’m recognizing a need for more honesty.  More substance. More transparency.  More depth.

I’ve had countless emails and comments over the past month thanking me for openly discussing these somewhat finicky topics.

To be totally honest (like usual, haha)….I alternate between equal parts uncomfortable in my transparency and empowerment at boldly sharing my deepest thoughts and secrets.  Sometimes the things I’ve written have made me anxious.  However, it’s usually these words that carry a heavy weight with them.  The type of weight that I don’t like to carry.

Really, what it comes down to is…. I love talking big life topics with you.

I love being your crafty buddy too.

It’s been such a cool trip for me to join the two over the past month….and you all have shown me such a fabulous response.  I’m one lucky lady.

Online knit and crochet community

Melody’s Fiber Friends Group

In order to continue this energy with you, I’ll be changing things up a little bit around here.

Here on the blog, you’ll continue to find regular free patterns….but you’ll also find lots more real life talk right along with them.  I seriously can’t write one more bit of introductory fluff now that I’ve seen this world of truth and authenticity in my writing.

In my Fiber Friends Membership Group, we’re going to start having two weekly online crafty gatherings via Zoom Meetings – no FB account required.

These gatherings will give us a live opportunity to chat about real life topics, craft together, and support and encourage each other in life and projects….let’s hold space for each other on a more regular basis.

I’ll be sharing some snippets from our crafty gatherings here on the blog along with a weekly giveaway….that way anyone who isn’t a member can still be included in the conversation (even if not live).

If you’d like to be included live in the conversation, check out my Fiber Friends Group.  I’ll be hosting two meetings each week (one in the morning and one in the evening).  If you only caught one a month, you’d still be paying less than a drop in crafty group and you have 8 opportunities….I’d love to see you there.

I’m so excited to talk life with you.

Thank you for your support and the love you’ve shown me.  I’m looking forward to reciprocating.

Comment and tell me…

What real life topic would you like to see us chat about here on the blog?

As usual….

  1. Melody, I so enjoyed your blogs for the month of November, that youre sharing your journey and healing with us. It let your fans & followers know that its absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about when we all go thru ups and downs in life! Ive been praying for you and your sweet little family. Ive been dealing with anxiety caused from family narcissistic abuse. As with you, its a day to day process of healing, and heal we do. Educating ourselves and knowing we are not alone in our journeys help so much. Im positive that you sharing yours helped so many! So thank you and I will continue to keep you and yours in my prayers! God’s continued blessings for you, Donna.

  2. I haven’t kept up with all your posts as my own life has been complicated caring for my son and his young family as he has had herniated cervical disk and repair surgery, but I want to tell you how grateful I am that you have stepped up to this challenge. I wish there had been such a caring group when I was your age, it could have helped me cope tremendously, rather than constantly over depending on my coffee friends for so much support. They are great caring people, but I’m sure it was a drag on them thru those rough years.
Thank you again! I will be popping in ??

    • So glad you’ll be popping in regularly. Thanks for following along! I’ll be sending lots of healing thoughts your way for your son’s back. I can’t imagine how difficult that must be while raising young kids!

  3. I want to say I love what you are doing and you have some very beautiful patterns. I will certainly share your blog with my crafty friends. 🙂

  4. Thank you so very much for your lovely patterns-blog, it was wonderful keeping in touch! It would be perfect lovely to chat about this new era of time we live in (new ways that has changed from the back days), how’s your day been, what crochet-knit project are you working on! Have a nice day and thank you!

  5. I’m so glad you’re going to continue sharing your journey! I’ve enjoyed it more than I thought I would have and it’s really helped me to realize I’m not alone in these struggles and am slowly improving. ?. You’ve given me the courage to stop hiding and talk about my feelings more, being both honest with myself and others. I am grateful beyond words!

    • Yay! This is SO amazing. Thank you so much for taking the time to write and tell me that. I’m thrilled that you’ve found the blog helpful, but mostly that you’re moving more in empowerment and with courage. Way to go!

  6. November topic Depression was great. It takes a lot of one that provides
the information and believe it or not it takes a lot out of one receiving
the information. I have a couple blogs I check in with and some days it is
just too much. I do like your blog time & effort.

I am busy right now crafting your beard toque which I love to do. FUN!

Take care of yourself and may your days be blessed with family & crafts.

    • I totally understand how reading this type of info. takes a lot of bandwidth! It’s what I’m passionate about, and I’m set on following my passion….so you’ll for sure be seeing more of it here. Don’t ever feel pressured to read or be involved though….this is just another place to turn when need some tools and encouragement in your toolbox. Thanks so much for following along throughout November.

  7. Its been a very interesting November.
Your blog has deff helped me on certain days when I’ve just felt nothing, had no drive to do anything had no energy to do anything and just felt all over bleh!

I’m glad you’ll be changing things up a bit and I think you’ve helped more ppl then you even know, there’s probably quite a lot that didn’t comment. I only commented a few times earlier in the month.

    Thanks

    • Thank you so much for taking the time to write and tell me that, Alli. I feel truly lucky to be able to use this space for something I’m passionate about and to help people at the same time. I hope you’ll continue to follow along.
