One of the joys of being a designer is watching a design you created be brought to life over and over again.  It’s really fun and exciting to see people using and loving your patterns, and it’s a rewarding experience to share them with the world!  So you can imagine how excited I was when I was contacted by Red Heart Yarns last summer about the possibility of doing some design work for them.  Unfortunately my schedule is always jam packed, so I haven’t been able to work with them quite as much as I’d like to…..BUT I was able to design a couple really cute patterns during a little lull last summer, and I’m so thrilled to see that one of them has been posted on Red Heart’s site and is ready to share with the world!

This Scalloped Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern was not only my first design for Red Heart, but also my first baby blanket design….so my goal was to make it absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous…..and I’m really proud of the way it came out!

If you love this design too, then I’d love if you’d help me spread the word about this free crochet pattern by sharing this blog post with your crafty friends.  You can also “queue” or “add to favorites” over on Ravelry by clicking here.

  1. Hi Melody,
Congratulations on the upcoming new arrival. Also, a two thumbs up on the beautiful baby blanket that you designed for Red Heart. I won’t have the opportunity to make it just yet as I am busy with Amigurumi dolls at the minute. However, I do have someone in mind to make it for. 13. Good Morning Melody,

I just viewed the baby blanket pattern you’re offering. Just in time as I’ve just finished knitting a bunch of really cute shawls (Kveta) using Berroco Millefiori yarn. I wanted a new project to work on. With a niece expecting her first baby ( a little girl) in May, this blanket will fill my void! just need to get to the store to pick colors – she’s using a warm peach and cream to decorate baby’s room so I have lots of choices to compliment her color scheme. Excited to start, thanks!

  24. Hi Heather! Since baby weight yarn is lighter than worsted weight or aran, your blanket will come out smaller than what the pattern describes. If you follow the pattern as is with the hook suggested for your yarn, your blanket will turn out smaller. To get the desired size, you will have to chain a longer chain. The pattern has the multiples to make a larger blanket. I hope that helps!

  25. Thanks for the lovely pattern! I’m on round 32 and don’t understand how to “slip stitch in next 3 ch, slip stitch in first dc”. Should I slip stitch into the chain space? Or each stitch in the chain three? Can anyone help? I’m sure melody is a little busy at the moment. 😉
