This year was Netherlee’s first Halloween, and I was determined to make her something cute to wear!  After spending a bit of time thinking on it, I decided it was finally time to make the adorable Penguin Hat and Cocoon Set I’ve had in my head for a year or two now…..

I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out!  Netherlee was tucked into the little cocoon all evening, which made keeping her warm easy peasy while we were out trick or treating.  Since it’s made sack-style, we didn’t have to worry about hauling around a blanket or about her feet sticking out and getting cold.  All of her body warmth stayed right next to her, and she looked adorable too!  I can’t tell you how many people smiled and pointed out the little “Penguin” as we walked by 🙂  It was a crafter’s dream come true for this Mommy!  Hahaha.

I’ve been a bit wrapped up in other projects since then, but I was finally able to take the time to work up the knit version and write up these adorable patterns this month.  So it’s time to add them to my shop!

Poppy Penguin Hat and Cocoon Knitting Pattern

The Poppy Penguin Pattern comes in both a knit and a crochet version and includes all sizes Newborn through 6-12 Months for both the hat and sack.  I’ve also included sizes 1-3 Years and 3-10 Years for just the hat pattern.

This pattern is one that you simply won’t want to miss….It’s ridiculously cute and oh so practical for keeping those sweet little ones snug and warm.  In fact, you could easily work in a giant button-hole type gap in the back for a car seat strap and be able to use it in the car seat!  How cute would your little one be riding around as an adorable penguin?
