I Just Can’t Help Myself…

Theo Glen Rogers Born 2/26/17

I know….sharing photos of sweet, fresh babies isn’t necessarily knit or crochet related.  However, how often do you get a chance to show off something so innocent, sweet, and lovely!?  Not to mention something you worked so hard on….Theo, Baby #3, was by far the largest, hardest project I’ve worked on to date, hehe.  I did, at least, keep it to the photos where he’s wearing a cute knit or crochet hat…which means you all get a couple sneak peeks at some upcoming designs!

I know many of you (like me) love a good birth story….so I’ll give you a quick recap on how everything went down.  Our little Theo was born on 2/26 at 8:35am.  He had been threatening to come for about 3 weeks, and my body had done A LOT of the prep work well in advance of the actual event.  So when my water broke that morning around 4:45am, things moved VERY quickly towards his entrance into the world.  It was by far the most fast and furious birth I’ve had, and the best word I can use to explain it is “intense.”  We had planned another home birth for this baby (Netherlee was born at home too), but I’ll admit it….I experienced a couple of moments of regret on not having any pain relief available, haha.  I made it through, though, and once we got to the pushing part, things felt a bit more smooth for me.

Baby Theo wearing his Snow Bunny Pom Hat made by Daddy, Nick!

Unfortunately, Theo had the cord wrapped around his neck, so pushing in the most comfortable position wasn’t an option for me.  Every time I tried, his heart rate dropped drastically.  My midwife asked me to change positions, and as soon as I did, Theo literally “shot” into the world!  I was worried he was going to break my pubic bone because he moved through the birth canal so quickly!  Luckily, no bones were broken, the midwife was able to flip the cord off from around his neck, and Theo made a healthy entrance into the world.  Unfortunately, shortly after the birth, I had some major hemorrhaging.  It was extremely scary, and we were lucky we didn’t end up in the hospital…but we got it all under control, and both Mommy and Baby Theo made it through the event ok.  I’m still trying to recover from the blood loss (WOW it takes forever to get feeling better after losing a lot of blood!) but each day seems just a tiny bit better.  Luckily Nick, my wonderful husband, has been treating me like a queen and doing everything around here to help me get the recovery time I so desperately need.

This puppy hat makes me SO happy!

So….without further ado, please welcome Baby Theo to our little crafting family!  So far he’s an extremely mellow, super snuggly, and wonderful little guy.  The perfect fit for our family.

Melody please……how can you honestly say that babies are not knitting or crochet related.
They are the very first reason why we do these crafts.
