It’s time for some crafting confession…..

Comment on this post and let me know what your worst crafting habit is (or at least what those around you claim it might be)!

Hehehe….I’m eagerly anticipating a jolly good laugh while reading these!

I have this habbit of buying yarn and I don’t know what i’m going to make or chrochet with it. Sitting with a cupboard full of yarn, just waiting for a project. I also can’t resist verigated yarn!

    • I’m glad I’m not the only one that buys yarn without any idea what I’m making with it ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I just bought some yarn…no idea what I am going to make…but who cares. I can never have enough yarn on hand…lol

    • My family would say that I leave my projects all over the place, don’t finish them, have too much yarn… guilty of all those!! I don’t really leave scraps too often… just projects and supplies have invaded the living room!

    • I’m also guilty of this….but you can never have enough, right!? We’ll just be well stocked if the end of the world ever arrives ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. My worst crafting habit is buying more and more yarn and fabric!

  3. My worst habit or so hubby says is four projects going at the same time and spread out all over the living room! Second is the bits of yarn all over but I save them for the birds in the spring!

    • That is a really great idea!!!!!

    • I heard about this idea this past summer and have been saving my scraps to do this.

    • That’s me! I save my bits too, but storing them… I have a “repurposed” candy dish that I thought it would look neat in until I could get a suet feeder, but it really just looks like I didn’t know where the trash can was. lol And now it’s full! So I have to find a back up.

  4. My husband would probably love it if I picked up my yarn scraps and didn’t have 50 balls of yarn scattered throughout the edges of the furniture I’m working in. I’m a messy artist because when inspiration strikes, you stop what you’re doing and grab onto it… Then life calls… Immediately and I don’t want to forget about it.

  5. Loved this!!! According to my husband it’s that I don’t finish my projects! So what if it took me 2years to complete a counted cross stitch project! Or that I have 4 knit projects right now! Right!?!?!? The little bits of yarn all over – definitely a close second for sure!

  6. Im liking this allready . I leave my skeins here & there arnd the house, places I do Hooking. Hubby says I have yarn yarn & more yarn??

  7. Guilty! My daughters, ages 2 and 5, love playing with the yarn scraps. They were pretending some of the black was spiders the other day. I save mine and use it to stuff things with. I haven’t made enough to invest in polyfil yet.

Hubby hates when I have an order because the dishes don’t get done and the kitchen turns to chaos.

    • My kids have to beg me to put down my knitting and cook dinner.

    • This makes me think someone should write a book, “From the Children of Crafters” or something like that. I love that they play with your scraps! My little guy does too….he’s always asking if he can use them to make a hitch on his truck, etc.

      • I would have to say mine involves my kids as well. I also get so involved I forget to cook dinner, or they will try talking to me and I’m counting stitches and when I start to count out loud they know it means I can’t talk, then usually by the time I am done counting they have left the room and forgotten what they wanted to talk to me about The other thing my kids would call a bad habit is when we are running errands and I say “Hey! I have a coupon for Joanns, why don’t we go see what’s on sale?” This is always followed by.. “No! Can’t you do that when we’re not with you?” or “But mom, you already have to much yarn and we were just there a couple of days ago!!” So I guess you could say that mine is the fact that my kids are Craft Orphans.

  8. I love this idea, I’m just like you melody! I have yarn scraps all over, i might be worse though I have my yarn supplies throughout the house, my hubby hates it drives him nuts lol, especially since I do have a craft room but never keep it in there!
I like having balls of yarn in different spots in the house. I sell hats and if I have an order I like to have my yarn in certain areas.

    Thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. For scrap yarn you can save it and use it in place of fiberfill stuffing or mixed with fiberfill. Also, you can take a suet cake holder and fill it with yarn scraps. Hang it from a tree for birds and critters to use to make nests with. And my worst craft/hobby is starting new projects before I finish others. I really need to stop doing that.

  10. Worst crafting habit. Oh dear! Just one? I’d have to say spending a fortune collecting things I “just might need” or “think is super pretty” etc.. Then of course, over time they become part of the hoarders nightmare I call my basement (alias “the abyss!”) If “she who dies with the most (yarn/fabric/needles/embellishments….) wins—- You can all stop shopping now. I own the title!

    • Oh man! And here I thought I had a chance ๐Ÿ˜‰ Love it! I want to be at the estate sale after you pass on (though I sincerely hope that doesn’t happen for many, many years <3 )

  11. Although I have the same problem with yarn scraps and folding laundry lol, my habits that others find annoying are leaving my wips lying on all the coffee tables, leaving my crochet hooks out everywhere and then yelling when I can’t find the one I want, and leaving my button containers out and people trip over them, than I make them clean them up hahaha

    • I love that you make them clean them up! After all….the floor is the biggest shelf in the house, right? They should have been watching out for your button container ๐Ÿ˜‰

  12. When I get “in the mood” to start a fantastic new project, I go to my stash and bag up the yarn I think I want to make it with. I usually don’t even start the project but am back at the stash with another bag gathering a different color combination. By the time I finally settle on the one (usually the original) my living room has so many bags of yarn in it I could be featured in an episode of Hoarders! I spend too much time dragging out and then putting back yarn I will not use until the next time I start my hunting and gathering process.

  13. This isn’t a confession, but an idea to share for yarn scraps. It wasn’t mine, I read it some where else.
Take your yarn scraps and use them to stuff anything that needs stuffing: stuffed animals, pet toys, etc. I keep them in a ziploc bag for the occasional stuffie.

  14. Hi…..I have a long arm quilting business & have to admit that I always have at least one thread on me somewhere & I really am not bothered by it! So, my poor family, have to deal with thread & yarn bits! Oh well…it keeps me happy quilting & knitting!

    • This is so funny! For the first time in forever I am actually making some thing for my self. It happens to be a full length sweater made out of a super soft eyelash yarn which is black. So, I am not running around with just a thread or two on me, but sometimes a whole little handful of black threads on me. It has been bad enough that perfect strangers have been plucking threads off me when I am at the store. I was at the ER with a friend recently and took the sweater to work on while she was getting checked out. When she was released and we were getting ready to go, I thought I had gotten all of the threads off me. She says “hang on a minute.” And moved my arm… I had threads in the fold of my elbow and even up the under side of my arm almost to my pit! By the time we got it all off, we literally had a handful of threads and a nurse was pulling them off my back as well. What a sight I must have been!

  15. My worst crafting habit is having too many going at once, so there is at least 4 canvas totes each containing a different project. Oh that’s one tote per room in my house.

    • Love it! Do they travel between rooms or are they solely dedicated totes? I love the idea of only crafting one project per room until it’s done….would be fun to try!

  16. If you make amigurumi-save your yarn bits to add to the stuffing!!

  17. I also leave scraps of yarn EVERYWHERE! If I ever get lost, I am fairly certain, I could be like Gretel and find my way home with my trail of yarn scraps. Hooks and skeins of yarn also tend to take up residence where they shouldn’t. I promised my husband that I would only have one project in the living room at a time. A promise I managed to keep for a month, but I broke it this morning to start a CAL(my plan is to do this week’s portion of the CAL and then move it back to my craft room, but we’ll see.).

  18. My biggest problem is,trying to find things that I can understand how to do (I am left handed) and complete it. I get frustrated, and give up. Hubby can tell how well I do,without me stating.

  19. My worst crafting habit is not finishing projects. I think I just get bored and by that time I’ve found something else I want to start. I’ve been trying to finish my drawer of almost finished knits. That and using up my yarn stash are my New Years resolutions

  20. My wost crafting habit is getting thread or staight pins all over the hiuse when sewing. Don’t ask me how pins end up. In carpet whe I don’t sew in that room.

  21. Oh God, yeah, small pieces of wool falling off me all over the house. And the other one is leaving needles stuck in my favourite seat & forgetting about them UNTIL I sit on them!!!!!

  22. Seems to be a trend among crafters. I am guilty of having multiple projects going at the same time. I have one counted cross stitch project that I started over 20 years ago and still haven’t finished. I solved the yarn scrap problem by having an over-sized mug sitting on the table next to where I sit to crochet and embroider. All the yarn and thread ends to into that mug. Just have to empty it when it is full. I am good about only working in one place in the house. So that area tends to be pretty untidy with all my projects and such.

  23. There is currently at least 5 skeins of yarn in the living room and scraps of yarn all over the place. It probably doesn’t help that my 2 year old grabs the scraps and tosses them on the floor when I’m trying to contain my mess to a pile lol

  24. I think my worst crafting habit is procrastination. I have several projects started at once and tend to put off the project that REALLY needs to be done! My resolution for this year was to finish what I start, get paid and THEN start something new!

  25. Having 6-10 projects going all the time – I have a bag for each and instructions, crochet hooks, knitting needles or cross stitch hoops and needles. If I ever get them all finished – get one done and another takes it’s place. Last year I did finish 6 scarves and 2 afghans. And buy the way have a great stash of yarn – never enough!

  26. I have yarn stashed all over the house so my husband never really knows how much I have or when I buy more. And the scraps are usually in a pile (mountain?) by the TV remote

  27. I have all of these bad habits…….everyone of these things I do. From buying tons of yarn with no initial purpose, scraps ALL over the house, 4diff projects going at once, and probably letting chores at times go undone because ” I have to finish this project today”……….not really. Drives not only my husband but my 17 year old son as well. He calls me granny when I’m crocheting

  28. Where do I start. Totes of yarn in every corner (our house is only 350 sq.ft), projects on the end table, and my chair, completed projects waiting to be mailed to the grandkids, yarn scraps on the floor, and the list goes on. BTW: it is the same thing with my books.

  29. I have several projects going at once and a minimum of 6 tote bags in the extra bedroom full of stuff. My husband complains all the time about all of my craft stuff and how much I have. He thinks I should only work on one thing at a time and only buy yarn as I start a project. Before we had pets that got into my yarn, I used to have several bags and piles around my living room chair. Drove him crazy! !!

  30. I have to say that I have the most understanding husband – he never complains about the random assortment of knitting projects and paraphernalia currently surrounding my “nest” a my end of the couch! Not to mention what’s stashed upstairs in my craft room… Of course we have an unwritten agreement: I don’t complain about his tool and computer collection, either. It works for us!

    • You sound like me and my husband. ๐Ÿ™‚ Joe is the best. He encourages me in almost every way – the exception being that he does NOT encourage me to buy more yarn. lol But he IS helpful in helping me choose colors. He has a good eye for that (he is a painter). But he doesn’t complain so much about my crochet habits, as he is into computers and computer gaming, and between us we have quite a collection of hobbies.

  31. My worst habit is starting about 8 different projects for myself and not finishing any of them. My second is taking over either the entire couch or the entire bed with my projects.

  32. I hoard yarn, fabric, stamps, and any other crafting goodies that catch my fancy. Especially if it’s on sale.

And a hint about those yarn scraps

I keep a ziplock with my yarn projects just for scraps
When the bag is kinda full I throw the scraps out for the birds ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. I would say my lack of house-cleaning shows when I’m knitting and crocheting. My ShihTzu loves to play ‘catch&fetch’ so she tends to ‘invite’ her little ‘dust bunny friends’ in to watch her games! Also the island counter tends to accumulate stacks of dishes that only get into the dishwasher when the mood strikes!!! Since I started my church’s prayer shawl ministry I can ‘justify’ my need to always be working on something!! Just sayin’…

  34. I have yarn in every room of the house, and I have scraps of yarn too. thankfully my family doesn’t say too much:)

  35. I don’t leave yarn scraps around often though sometimes, my cat steals some while I’m working. My biggest crafting confession is that I leave skeins, half skeins, and projects lying around in my crochet spaces. There’s usually a pile on the arm of the couch, and sometime, some fall over between the couch and the chair and stay there for a while. There’s a pile on my work desk (I edit books), and then I get annoyed at myself for leaving a mess in my work space. Then I move them to a nearby chair so that I can sit down and work, and my girlfriend gets annoyed that there’s a pile of yarn there.
I clean up my piles periodically, but they always manage to crop up again.

    • I know this problem well! Lately I’ve been trying to move all my piles to one “mother” pile, but they still keep spilling out….I’m guiltily looking at the pile on my table right now!

  36. My confession is making a “Knitting nest” in the living room.
I set myself up with balls of yarn, scissors, buttons,Coffee, 2 phones,tv remote and a couple of bickies in the corner of the sofa.
Then it stays there till i finish the project I’m working on, which can be days…lol.

  37. Fun topic!! Yarn scraps are among several habits. Another that if I didn’t live alone, I’m sure there would cause much tension in household. I leave all my WIPs in plain sight on my piano and I have several WIPs going at all times. I hope that at some point, I am able to have a craft room that contains all my fiber supplies!

  38. Since I do a lot of different type of crafts, I think my most annoying habit is my love of glitter. Which equates to glitter being all over the house, no matter how many times you vaccumn.

  39. Hands down it is my stash. Now, I know stash is a fact of life and my husband didn’t always complain about it until the past several years. We moved my “craft room” upstairs and I had to arrange where everything went including tubs and tubs of yarn! Two tubs of brand new yarn!! I had to admit that my amount of stash was obscene, but even more concerning is the fact that I’m not sure I’ll live long enough to get through all of it!

  40. I have the habit of buying craft supplies and leaving them boxed until ready to use. I have a bunch of Cricket supplies still boxed up from when i purchased them years ago!!

  41. Knit and Crochet are reserved for “the evenings”… a day without it makes me cranky..We are retired,,DH DVR’s EVERYTHING, so he “clicks” I work the fingers.. his complaint is the “clutter” of finishing tools on the table that divides are seating space..:) he is constantly find “a container” to put it all in,,and I have claimed the “loveseat” as my chair.. half for me, the other for my projects in progress.. To make matter worse, I am a quilter by day,,, and my worst habit for that is “burying my sicissors.. I always lay something on top of them,, then have to “dig to find them”.. consequently I have about 30 prs of sicissors,, all sizes..,, but then hey, I’m retired… I can have what I want.. right? He has the garage and his tools and cars!!!

  42. I have so many WIP’s…I start something and don’t finish because I get bored or decide I don’t like the colors or the pattern.

  43. I guess I am guilty of most everything that has been posted. My spare bed room has become to look more like a yarn boutique. The bed serves as a palat for different color combinations. There are also scrap bins with small amounts of leftovers just waiting for the right project. Of course there are the full skeins bought with no specific thing in mind. It was pretty, diffferent, something new that spiked my interest, or at a bargin price too good to pass up. Lots and lots of yarn. Is that a bad habit?????

  44. I crochet every where I go. My husband is so sick of yarn in the car, at Drs offices, visiting parents or kids…and all over the house. I have a craft room ; but only crochet in my recliner in the living room….and of course, yarn is all around with hooks, patterns, measuring tapes etc……and yarn in a big basket, below my computer, in the floor…..He even bought me a cordless vacuum so I can pick up the little pieces….. He and I share a computer and guess what? The Favs…are crochet sites and the down loads are crochet patterns. Poor guy……I just think he needs to learn to crochet and chill out…what do you think? LOL I love seeing everyone’s post…made me laugh.

  45. I guess I am right up there with those who make their “nests” with a few tote bags containing the latest projects scattered around. Scissors get placed everywhere. Unless something is needed for a gift, projects go unfinished as I hop from one to another. At least I don’t get bored! And since the kids moved out, I have no one here to complain except the cats & the dog. They don’t complain much – when I work on something I have a cat in my lap and the dog at my side!

  46. My family is pretty good about the random crafting junk I leave everywhere. I think it’s the mad panic when I can’t find what I’m looking for.
And I never fold laundry, either. With 5 kids? What’s the point. No one minds enough to do it themselves so we’ll call it ok ๐Ÿ˜€

  47. I think the thing that annoys my husband most is that I won’t pick one craft (preferaby one that involves nothing sharp). I think my worst habit is not finishing projects. Unfortunately I get ideas quicker than I can implement them. I’m pretty good about not leaving scraps around since I started saving them for the birds. I also leave projects all over the house (with two kids I like being able to work whenever I can steal a minute or two.), which drives my husband batty because he’s worried about the kids getting hurt.

  48. I have a habit of cutting my ends off and leaving them on the tables. Also, buying yarn to only collect it.

  49. son has a mantra something about too much yarn, yarn everywhere, until you “do something” with the yarn….I am not sure, I think he is annoyed. also has an observation that items get made and volume stays the same?? I think I just humm until the noise stops. There is some information that is just “too much”. That qualifies.

  50. I usually have a piece of plastic or paper that I can put my yarn scraps whenever I do a project. My husbands biggest problem, though, is me having my project (yarn and hooks) on the sofa, in the television shelf, in the computer, in the bed.. Hehehe! What happens is, when I remember to do a household chore, I will stop crocheting for a while and leave my project then come back for it. My husband said, “you know, my butt could get hooked with your hooks”. (He sat in my hook one time).

  51. my husband thinks my leaving straight pins sticking up in the carpet is the most annoying and horrible crafting habit i have (it’s not like i do it on purpose…they just fall everywhere)..lol

  52. My husband told me it’s when I just leave my projects/yarn out & in the way. We have a small house & it’s imperative I put my crochet stuff when I’m done. For each project I use either a 1 or 2 gal Ziploc bag. (I also put my yarn scraps in a Ziploc bag. It works great!) So I try to remember to take care of “my stuff.” I keep my yarn in one those big plastic bags bed comforters come in. Sometimes I get that out to look thru my yarn or put new yarn away, & don’t always put it away. I put each color of yarn in separate Ziploc bags so it’s fairly easy to find what I want & saves having a tangled mess! I guess not taking care of stuff would be mine!

  53. I save all my yarn bits and hang them outside in the early spring so the birds can use them for their nests. This really helps me pick up all the scraps and put them in
a little baggie as I work on my projects. By the way it is very rewarding to see the nests with bits of yarn hanging out of them.

  54. Evelyn Richard-Hawes

Since no one is living with me to complain, I can only give you the comments made by my daughter, who’s 29 and has her own problems with scrapbooking papers being everywhere, she says I have YAS, which stands for yarn acquisition syndrome, she believes I have more than enough yarn to last my lifetime as well as hers and several other people. She has repeatedly said I should be ashamed of myself for purchasing any more yarn EVER!! Can you imagine the nerve, well of course I don’t listen, since I don’t ask anyone for money, its my business, and besides isn’t the saying “she who dies with the biggest stash, winner”.

  55. I keep buying more Yarn or fabric, I usually have a project in mind, although sometimes it just calls out for me to buy it, but life gets in the way, I don’t get the project even started then decide I’ll use the yarn or fabric for something else, or I buy more!
I’ve hijacked the coffee table (it is in a corner next to my chair)with my projects.
I get involved in my crafting and all of a sudden its dinner time and it didn’t cook itself – Very inconsiderate if it!
I also leave my washing til I need the basket again!

  56. My worse habit is leaving my projects all over the place and also hording yarn. I’m about to move out of my bedroom because I have so much yarn, it’s everwhere. I just can’t help myself.

  57. I have several yarn mountains… I can’t resist a bargain when I see one and buy, buy, buy.
I also have several projects on the go, and have one mystery blanket project from 2011 that I have not completed and yet, I start new projects all the time!

  58. Hi! I love that you are asking this. So my worst habit is leaving my yarn on the back of the couch. My husband set up a wonderful rocker and a table in our bedroom for me to crochet in/at. I started out there in the beginning and now I just bring all my yarn down to the couch and crochet out in the living room. I stay up late crocheting and just say oh heck with it and leave it on the couch. And there my work and yarn stays. Just for someone to knock off onto the floor. ๐Ÿ™‚ p.s. even though i have a little bag for my scrap pieces of yarn, somehow they manage to be everywhere!!

  59. My first one like most I buy stuff I don’t need at that time but my worst one is that I crochet during my kids and others ball games but I’m a mom I multi-task lol

  60. My worst habit is that i tend to buy more yarn than i actually need for the project. So after it’s done, i don’t know what to do with the extra.

  61. I have to say that I don’t have a set crafting area so my husband always gripes when I have a project that takes a while to finish because I just leave it out and pick it up when I have time to work on it! I guess when we build a house this will give me some leverage to have a space of my own for crafting!

  62. I love crafting. Not just knit and crochet. I do cross stitch, embroidery, bead and even paint. I have all sorts of supplies and I try to thin it out but I keep thinking that I might need. With the move though organizing is fun… not!

  63. My Husband is so good he does not complain… I try to pick up all yarn ends…My worst thing is that I leave my Crochet bag on the couch.. I make my self crazy doing that..Oh well tomorrow is another day.

  64. I had to laugh when I read your post. LOL
I am not only a crocheter, but a sewer, multi-crafter, home improvement lover, trash to treasure nut, Sunday school and VBS teacher, but I am also an eBay seller. So, not only am I “collecting” yarn, I collect a bit of EVERYTHING! LOL

If there is a clearance section in a store….I am there “perusing”. LOL I just hit the 90% off sales for my next year’s Christmas listings on eBay, plus stuff for ME, of course. I hit yarn clearance like a starving person! My daughter calls me HOARDER! hahaha

I have my “office” in the living room becuz the basement is not yet done being waterproofed and organized. WE are painting it. Everything is shoved in huge heaps…away from the walls. I have a basement full of stuff. The coffee table in the LR is always full of yarn and whatever else I am selling or working on. My computer and printer are right here too…along with tape, packaging, scissors, paper. The laminate for our kitchen island is standing up in the dining room waiting on US. LOL I have about 15 gallons of paint downstairs waiting to be put on the walls UPstairs. The wood in the garage is DYING to be garage shelves. The mantle supplies are waitin on good ole me to have time.

Yarn…I have soooo much I bought for “future” projects it isn’t even funny! And then there is the yarn I am selling! And now I collect stuff for kids’ projects too. I have 25 large Quaker Oats containers for future “drums”. Toilet paper and paper towel rolls anyone? hahaha I have them for the kids and also for the cats at the shelter. (We volunteer there.)

My worst crafting habit? I save and buy things with brilliant projects in mind…just don’t have the time to do all of them…YET! I really do need to get stuff outa this LR! I will…as soon as I get those walls painted downstairs….and organize. Actually, my stuff all has it’s “place” down there….bookcases, tubs, etc. It’s just moving it to my NEW area that is gonna be a job. I decided I liked a different spot down there…so after “the move” I will be SET! My desk is down there too, so I won’t need to use the coffee table in the LR! LOL

My husband is so wonderful. HE does not complain ONE BIT. My 14 y/o….well she has enough to say for the BOTH of them! hahaha Especially since I put stuff under her loft bed at times! I have one project under there right now! LOL

    HELP!!!! LOL!

  65. I would most def. say my worst, most noticeable, craft habit is my yarn scraps lying around. You don’t want to see my yarn bits, esp. when I have a deadline to make!

  66. my worst crafting/crochet habit is getting the yarn wound up in the computer chair wheels.. it drives my hubby bonkers

  67. Well my husband doesnt complain about my crafty stuff except to say I have too much. My kids hate that I have projects scattered in different places, that is the BIGGEST complaint. The next would be not finishing a project but I finish numerous ones during the year and eventually make it back to the WIPs. I have to have many going to keep my mind fesh or else I get bored and just don’t want to do any of it any more.. ๐Ÿ™‚

  68. I have way too many wips as I work on one thing then get distracted and start another one. One day I will finish them all. Or unravel them and start over with something else totally. ๐Ÿ™‚

  69. Hi Melody, Well since i am the husband i guess i should be talking aboutny wife doing the complaining. But the truth of the matter is we both do the same thing. I am more into the crochet now a bit more so i guess my confession is i go to the craft stores more often then she knows. LOL Oh well we both enjoy it and it makes for good conversation as we make friends and family but mostly the grandchildren gifts if we are not paying to it forward to family we ofcourse give away to a cause. ๐Ÿ™‚ Darn craft stores

  70. Besides the yarn scraps all around, I am out of control with printing too many patterns, probably more than I will ever get to. I want to do them all! Trying to get them organized in to notebooks is my new resolution. Oh and I leave my needles and sizzors in my project bags and have to hunt for them!

  71. Keeping everything I make….I bet I have stuff I made 30 years ago! Let Go already. I buy to much yarn and save it for the right pattern and go out and buy more when I see something divine.

    • I am the exact opposite, I give everything away. My boyfriend always ask me if Im just going to give it away and not keep anything, why dont I sell it?

  72. I’m with everyone else on this. Here is my bad crafty habits. Buying too much yarn (could open a yarn shop myself). Too many projects started and not finished and hence having lots of bags with little/big projects in them everywhere. Leaving the house work for another time while I work on a project. Every year making a new years resolution to use up some of my stash which lasts until I see the mew seasons yarn. However on the positive side its a great hobby to have and those who put up with our bad crafty habits often get a specially made item which is unique or more time to watch sports on the TV. A win win situation!

  73. My husband complains I never finish a project. I get bored easily and have several projects going at the same time.

  74. ihave so many sleeves, fronts and backs of sweaters laying about. i hate sewing up after knitting them so i leave em. then onto the next project. lol

  75. My hubby says my worst crafting habit is planning my weekends around crafting and leaving NO time for us to do something other than sit at home. I will HAVE to work on this bad habit!! New Year, new goal! ๐Ÿ™‚ I do work full time, so weekends are my time to work on Hats from the Heart/My Journey Journals, so he does understand and never complains because what I do touches the lives of cancer patients. I think my worst crafting habit is buying more yarn when I already have a ton, just can’t resist the pretty soft and crayon colors at Hobby Lobby!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  76. I definitely have more projects planned than I will ever have time, for. My adult daughter says I am obsessive and need to stop buying yarn lol. Of course she loves the things I make for her and my grandson.

  77. Every new year I make the resolution to finish my WIP knitting and crocheting projects! I pull them all out and make a list…. this year I have 15 to be exact! I am notorious for finding a cute pattern, running out to buy the yarn (which I probably could have plucked from my stash) and then starting the project only to set it aside when another new project lands on my needles or if I just stumped reading a pattern. I do finish projects, don’t get me wrong… I just get bored with what is on my needles and then excited to start something new! All this doesn’t take into account the yarn and patterns I’ve bought for future projects and the multiple knitting needles I’ve had to buy because other needles are on WIPS! Oh well… it’s fun!

    • Haha! This just reminded me of the hat I started two years ago for my husband’s great grandmother because she requested it….still sitting half done. Every year around Christmas a few more rounds get knocked off. But yes – it’s definitely fun!

  78. My problem is I have way too many crafts to finish before I grow ‘old’ — afterall, I’m only 72! I have tons of yarn, yards of material, stained glass stuff, basket making stuff — not enough hours in the day! I still have a house to clean, meals to make and other activities in my life. Woes me, what can I do!

    • Haha! Just enjoy the presence of everything crafty and get to it when you do! There’s just something comforting about having all the materials….even if you don’t have the time!

  79. Leaving my projects in piles all over the house where I sit and having too much yarn.

  80. Hi I’ve just asked my 2 teenage girls what my bad craft habit is… I wish I hadn’t

  81. I’m also blind to yarn scrap everywhere, mind you I’ve gotten a lot better at picking it up. Its not so nice when the kitty has a piece of yarn sticking out his poor bum. so I keep a big eye on that. but I think what drives everyone nuts is, that I have a million saved pages in my favorites on the computer lol. soooo if you are looking for your saved page you have to go through all mine first lol. Enjoy your week ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Haha! That’s a great one ๐Ÿ˜‰ I noticed my husband has accidentally been bookmarking his stuff to my “Work” folder lately. I use the term “work” loosely….anything crafty related goes in there. He’s really gonna get a surprise when he tries to find his pages!

  82. I can’t restrict it to just one annoying crafting habit. My husband would say that one annoyance is the fact that I am a crafter of all trades: crocheting, knitting, crosstitch, painting ceramics and scrapbooking. To add to this is the fact that my supplies tend to end up everywhere! I am good (for the most part) at getting the supplies down to my large craft space but that is usually where it ends. I am a self admitted crafting hoarder- I can’t pass up a good deal or something that I really love. I think he’s also pretty annoyed with the tower of storage boxes in our bedroom right now as I try to organize my yarn hoarding (lol)!!

    • Awesome! Nothing better than getting to do a little bit of everything! He should just be happy you get it to your craft space, hehe. I need to work on that myself.

  83. I’m a shopaholic when it comes to crafts! I’ll buy things like yarn, beads, clay, etc. even though I don’t have a clue what I’m going to use them for, but when I do, I want it handy and ready! It’s gotten to where I have to hide them in the car and sneak them in the house when hubby isn’t around. I’m pretty sure I’ve been found out, though. I keep my stash in crocks and baskets all over the house, and he noticed me putting yarn in a plastic tub yesterday, because I don’t have anywhere else to stash!

    • Aaah! Caught! He probably had an inkling it was going on anyways….those moments when yarn comes spilling out of random places generally give me away ๐Ÿ™‚

  84. My worst habit is also leaving yarn scraps all over the place. It drives my husband bananas. I even posted on my crochet Facebook page about yarn peeves (mine being skeins that don’t come center pull) and he commented on it that his was scraps all over the place lol!

  85. Small bits and pieces of yarn bug me so I get rid of them immediately. What I leave are the small balls of yarn. They are really, really small, the size of a cherry tomato with the thought that they have got to be useful for something in the future….any suggestions?

  86. I too have yarn scraps everywhere, but my hubby’s biggest issue is that I buy lots of yarn with no idea what I’m going to make out of it. It drives his crazy, but I eventually find just the right thing to make. The yarn scraps, I use those to stuff amigurumi projects. That way, I don’t get upset seeing yarn go in the trash.

    • My hubby would probably list that one as a problem for me too ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ve been doing some stash busting lately, though, and it’s kind of fun to use up some of the old….more room for the new!

  87. My husband has no complaints (well, except on the cost) about my knitting and crocheting, because I am also a quilter. He has two main complaints about my quilting…1.) I tend to lose needles. And he finds them. In his foot. And 2.) Once when we were sitting on the sofa and I was quilting, I was convinced that I could slide a tiny quilting needle in his leg and miss all of the nerves. So I tried. I didn’t miss nerves at all. I hit every one of them! He sits on the other side of the room now.

  88. My hubby is very tolerant of my yarns and threads. I have too many UFOS (Unfinished Objects) on average and I’m thinking of getting an Addi Express Pro knitting machine. But I haven’t told him that yet. He cringes when I see a yarn sale saying I have too big of a yarn stash. And to which I respond, “That’s ridiculous, there’s no such thing as too much yarn!” LOL. ๐Ÿ™‚

  89. I too end up with scraps of thread all through the house (including the bathroom and I have no idea how they got there either). But I also seem to have a half ring of bags of cottons and wool around where I sit in the lounge room and the coffee table is full of hooks, pins, scissors and other accessories to the point that only my mug can fit on the coffee table if I very gently push things aside so nothing falls off. I cleaned one of the coffee tables (yes I cover more than one!) and the cat was so astonished that it was clean that she jumped up on it (a no no in my house) just because for the first time it was clear of pattern books, note pads, hooks etc (its covered again after a day!)

  90. My yarn just keeps crawling out of the corners and boxes and yarn room………(it’s all over the place, drives my husband crazy…)

  91. My worst habit is filling every table with my projects. It gets to the point where even I can’t stand the clutter & I have to get things organized & cleaned up!

  92. My worst crafting habit is starting a project and getting totally inspired by another one in the middle of the first one. Then the first one gets put aside while I start another one and then another inspiration comes along and another and another. Pretty soon I have 25 projects going and when the inspiration goes south, I pick up one of them and finish it. I get a ton of things finished though. Last year I made 84 hats, 29 scarfs, 15 afghans, 3 amigarumi toys, 3 headbands, 8 purses, 3 finished ladies sweaters, 1 baby cocoon, 2 baby dresses, 1 baby christening dress, 6 baby sweaters and 2 towel toppers. And, almost all of them are in dust proof tubs waiting for me to decide what to do with all this creativity.

  93. My bad habit is having totes full of finished projects.. I made a bunch of stuff for craft shows.the stuff that didn’t sell I have stored.I am so addicted to crocheting, that I just keep going!I think I have made something for every one in my family, whether they like it or not!!

  94. I think my family would say my worst crafting habits are leaving my craft stuff all over the furniture..but hey it’s where I know where its at. And that im very stingy when it comes to my yarn. Also my husband would thinks that my worst habit is whenever someone ask me how much I would charge them to make them this or that I always tell them nothing and its irritates him.

  95. I would say my worst crafting habit is getting so into the crocheting zone that my husband has to make me stop so I can get everything else accomplished. Lol sometimes I really loose track of time because it’s just so relaxing. Second, the never ending yarn scraps. ๐Ÿ™‚

  96. Several others have hinted at this… In my opinion, my WORST crafting habit is that I let it get in the way of household responsibilities. I feel just horrible when I’m sitting somewhere crocheting, and I hear my husband in the other room folding laundry or doing dishes. ๐Ÿ™ I know I’m not being idle, because I’m hard at “work” crocheting. But when he starts jumping in to help with that stuff, instead of just being proud to have such an understanding, helpful husband, I feel guilty that he has to do those things. To his credit, he doesn’t complain, but he shouldn’t have to come home after a long day at work and immediately start household chores. I’m trying to make a better effort.

  97. My husband doesn’t ask what is in the box that arrived today (and any other day) because we both know it is MORE yarn!!!!!!

  98. My worst habit is letting my craft room become a disaster area. New finds, ends after a project is finished, I might need some days, I will need this soon, and all the crafty must haves somehow have a life of their own and never stay organized. Only bothers me when I can’t find something I know is in there somewhere. But seriously, my life and limbs are in danger when I try to walk through it. Once a year it gets organized and it is a beautiful thing for about a week, maybe two. BUT if you come over and need something unique – I usually have it! Now I just have to find it!

  99. My worst habit as a crocheter is using my cleavage to hold my hooks I then forget and walk around the house with crochet hooks sticking out, have even forgotten and found them as I undress to go to bed!!! (they never roll down into the side of the furniture cushions anymore ;-)!
